THIS EVENT IS CONFIRMED ON

This Friday (November 29th) we have our planned Blackheath observing session.

The event will start at 7.30pm.

During the evening there will be plenty to see.

Some of the objects we will be hoping to provide views of are;

• M44, The Beehive Cluster – A jewel box of blue and gold stars
  M45, The Pleiades – A cluster of bright stars and nebulosity also known as the ‘Seven Sisters’
  M42, The Orion Nebula – A famous Nebula, clearly visible below the belt of Orion
  Almach – Perhaps the most attractive Double Star in the sky
  Mu Cephei, The Garnet Star – An enormous deep red star you could fit 1 billion Sun’s into
  NGC 7662, The Blue Snowball Nebula – Its….a fuzzy blue snowball!
  Sigma Orionis – A truly beautiful quadruple star system in Orion
  IC 405, Flaming Star Nebula – A challenge, but hopefully we can see this with the aid of an OIII filter
  Uranus – The pale green dot of one of the outermost planets. A mere 1800 million miles away!

  All these, and more will be visible to us. We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible.

The temperature during the event is likely to be near freezing so please wrap up warm.

We will meet at our usual spot just north of Talbot Place at 7.30pm. Talbot Place is the first left off Goffers Road after the Tea Hut. Parking is free after 6.30pm.

If you are new to observing and have a telescope that you need assistance with, please arrive before 7.30pm, so that we can find time to assist you before the main event begins. There should be someone on-site from 7pm onwards.
